A recent roadtrip afforded the opportunity to visit Charlottesville, Virginia. I had not been in some time and was once again struck with the beauty of the Virginia countryside and Monticello (Italian for little mountain) — home to the third President of the United States.

Jefferson is buried at Monticello, and his obelisk marker over his grave cites his being the author of the Declaration of Independence, author of the Virginia statute for religious freedom, and founder of University of Virginia. No mention of being president!
Jefferson’s beloved university has all the beauty and charm of Monticello. His likeness stands before the rotunda.

After last year’s great experience in visiting collegiate football cathedrals, you didn’t think I would forget about going by the football stadium. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find a way into Scott’s Stadium, so I had to settle for peering in between bars.
