A recent roadtrip afforded the opportunity to visit Charlottesville, Virginia. I had not been in some time and was once again struck with the beauty of the Virginia countryside and Monticello (Italian for little mountain) — home to the third President of the United States.

Jefferson is buried at Monticello, and his obelisk marker over his grave cites [...]

Huskers

Upon arriving in Lincoln we hit a thunder and lightning storm that left us in awe. Barely able to see through the windshield we pulled off in Lincoln as light flashed and thunder rumbled within two seconds of each other. As they do in the Midwest, the storm passed along quickly and the rain stopped [...]

My Kind of Town

I have greatly enjoyed the Windy City before and wanted to share my enthusiasm for it with the family. We started at the Hancock Tower on its skydeck to give them a feel for the city’s layout. After walking Michigan Avenue’s Magnificent Mile, we headed to Millennium Park and then over to Navy Pier. We [...]

Chapel Hill, NC

University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill should easily rank as one of the best college towns with its beautifull landscape and buildings.  It definitely surpassed my expectations.  Adding to the college ambience runs Franklin Street with its collection of shops and eateries.  After walking through campus, the football stadium and the Dean Smith Center, we headed for Franklin Street for [...]

I never thought we would have made it inside the Dean Smith Center. When we approached the entrance there were many people milling around due to a swim meet next door. All the doors to the Smith Center’s front entrance were locked. Not deterred, we headed around back and found a door [...]
